Steel fabrication project - Paragon Mill

Our work sometimes takes us outside of the Staffordshire area. We recently completed a complex but rewarding steel fabrication project at Paragon Mill in Ancoats, Manchester for which we designed and installed an internal staircase to connect the four floors of the building’s penthouse apartment. As this was a heritage project for a Grade 2 listed building we needed to design and install a staircase that would be authentic to its history. We decided, therefore, to use industrial style materials such as reclaimed timber, and a brushed brash finish that would sit beautifully alongside the exposed brickwork and soft tones of the décor.

Accessing the property was a challenge as we could only use a small 6-person lift or climb 6 flights of stairs to reach the penthouse. None of the floors were level or straight and we couldn’t attach the structure to the walls due to the building’s Grade 2 listing. We overcame all challenges to present the client with a beautifully crafted, high-end, practical and sustainable staircase that is now a main feature of the property.
